Say it!

I am so tired as I have been working out and doing some work at home.  I'm ready for a nap before I go to my second job this evening but I came across an awesome video that I had to share.

The young lady in the video is speaking about why she trimmed her hair.  Essential it was because she had a lot of knots and tangles from wearing her hair in an afro a lot.  But if you listen closely, she is really saying she wears 'fros to encourage and empower children (she is a teacher).  It was so awesome to hear her speak of the confidence that many of her children gained from seeing her rock her 'fro.

In our society, so many young, black women are still made fun of and criticized for the texture of their hair.  One such young woman is Vanessa Van Dyke, a 12-year old that was threatened with suspension because her hair was a 'distraction'.

We must do a better job in supporting one another in our journeys and letting young woman and men know that natural is beautiful in all it's many forms.

Watch the video and comment if you've ever experienced any similar situations.
